So Goes the Sun

As I sit here beside myself, rising with the sun
The only bright spot in my day
Where'd the time and my family go?, too ashamed to say
Has everyone forgotten me?

The time goes by and the people change so quickly
I can't keep track, so goes the sun

I wish I could have been, sitting on my own shoulder
To see what brought about the change
As they grew I could see the love, slipping out of reach
Never to return my way

What a way to say goodbye to an old friend
I can't let it hurt, so goes the sun

Sun of my days, you lift my spirits higher
Shed light on my dimmest hopes, for some happiness
The friends I meet seem to go, is it me that drives them
Or do they just not understand the love inside of me

I never tried to hurt all the ones that I loved
I just couldn't see things the same

So I found that I was my best friend
I don't lose track of the things I say
The times go by and the people change so quickly
